What is wrong with Yahoo?

Lately Yahoo mail login page is becoming more and more vague.
Earlier on they had only a simple login screen with username and password field. Recently they started adding pictures to their login page. Full screen color pages showing characters with Yahoo logo on their body or clothing. Even more, lately they are showing irrelevant pictures of women on the login page. I fail to understand the purpose. Are they trying to attract more people by adding models to their mail login page? Or are they trying to make the login page more friendly looking? It seems to me that ever since they joined hands with Microsoft, their web pages are being influenced by the look and feel of Microsofts Bing search engine. Bing has, since its beginning had colorful pictures as the background to their search engine text box. Again a similarly irrelevant and ambiguous concept. Websites that do not reflect clarity of purpose at the first sight are not likely to succeed. This is one of the reasons Google is more successful. Their web page is not cluttered with irrelevant information. The users focus is not diffused by unrelated pictures or ads or models. Straight to the point. I think Bing and Yahoo learn from this. Trying to be different is good. Trying to do weird things by putting irrelevant material on their search engine and / or mail login page is not useful. In fact it could turn counter-productive and turn users away. Anyone out there feeling the same way?
