Cellphone Eye Test from MIT

This is cool. MIT has developed a new software that can be installed on your cellphone and can do a quick eye-checkup for you. No waiting for doctors appointments and spending huge money. Well, although the experiment is in its initial stages alone, the prospects and potentials are huge. There are millions of people especially in the developing countries who do not have access to basic health care. But things like this can be one baby step in the right direction. If the stats heard by me are correct, the cellphone penetration in several south asian developing countries is quite high compared to the fixed line phone access. Which means the potential market size for such apps is huge. It is said that the software is currently available for smartphones only but could soon be made available to non-smartphones also. I think this is cool. Well done MIT.
