Science Channel Show and Moore's Law..

Have you watched the Science Channel Show hosted by Hollywood star Morgan Freeman called 'Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman'? If so, have you watched the first episode of the Show titled 'Is there a Creator'? If no, try on youtube to catch some glimpse of it. The part that I'm really referring to in that episode is the one which talks about the possibility of our Physical Universe being a really detailed Artificial Simulation created by future Humans. Meaning that what is the possibility that Future Human generations evolve to be such Intelligent creatures that they are able to do things which we currently consider as Science Fiction -- like Time Travel, like Creation of Artificial Simulations that can travel in any direction in Time. Imagine the possibility of us being Lego Indiana Jones living in the world which is just a Artificial simulation like Wii-Indiana Jones video-game series by Wii. The only difference would that the video game is created by Wii, and our world would be created as an Artificial Simulation by our own future Human generations. Isnt that a strange yet cool thought? Well, not for nothing they say, Truth is stranger than Fiction.
Now consider the realistic possibility. Relativity Theory does not rule out Time travel. Infact, the laws of Physics work the same way even if the Time were traveling in the negative direction or instead of going into the future, receding in the past. Laws of Physics dont put any restrictions on Negative Time. So in our imagination atleast for now, it is possible that future Humans could discover Nature's Laws to such a level that they could Time travel. But that would require enormous advancements in our Intelligence, I suppose. Intelligence, that is an interesting concept. I think it is the ability to learn and adapt to changes. We can see that during the course of evolution, we have advanced from Early Homo Sapiens to the civilization of today where we can control a lot of things with our Technology. We have a lot to go still we are in better position. In our own generations lifetime, we have seen the Digital revolution. From the very basic functionality of early transistors to the integrated chips to the VLSI which is the heart of Todays Digital revolution. Moore's Law says every 18 months or so, the processing power of microprocessors double and their prices halve. So in about 40-50 years or so we have traveled from circuits that could hardly do one or two calculations per second to those that do millions or more of calculations per second. That too at a fraction of the original cost. At this rate, what is the possibility that soon one day we will be able to design and control chips that are self evolving, and intelligent learning circuits. What is the possibilty that we could soon live in the simulation of our own creation? Food for thought...
